Date of death 22nd March 2003, just nine days after her birthday which was the 13th March. She was just 59
She was a loving wife to Jim, mother to Sharon, Nick and Christian (Winnie) and nan to James, Natasha, Poppy, Luke, Shakara and Paige.motherinlaw to wylie, sharon and darren.
my moms battle strted in 1997, when she kept saying that there was something wrong and she knew her body was telling her that this was the case, doctors told her it was a simple water infection, and thats where the blood was coming from, I told her to go and see a woman doctor, in which she did and she found a mass, and then it went form there, tests appoiment at hospital and finally a name for it CANCER. she had a operation to cut half of her bladder out in which the cancer had grown into which had started in her navel (which had been wipping) and had spread into her bladder, and the doctors told her that they had removed all of the cancer out.of course they tried to give her chemo at first and this did not touch it, it just made it grow.has they found out this was a very rare type of cancer that she had got and they were unsure how to deal with and when it went in to the bladder it looked like she had smoked all her life, when in fact she was a non smoker and even made my dad give it up. Operation no two they removed the second part of the bladder due to finding that the cancer had returned (another nine hour operation) but she got on with it like she always did and this time it looked like she had got rid of it,but no this was not to be she started getting pains in the leg and feeling uwell again and back to the doctors and hospital again this time it was secondary cancer, in time it took her to where she had got bedridden because she could not walk anymore and from there it went down hill.during this time I had moved away to start a new life but was alwaysback for vists and on one vist I had some news to tell her that I was having a baby( I dont think she was to pleased at this point as she she said that I was mad and I should be enjoying my life, as my orther children were gown up, two left school and a 12 year old ) but she came round t it in the end and even picked up the phone to me one day and said what do I think to the name paige. so paige it was.In 2002 things were not getting any better for my mother, constant care inher own home in which I must say my dad and all the orther macmillian nurses and doctors did a great job in amaking my mothers life a little more comfortable, they even arranged, for her to be brought up by amblance from worcester to yorkshire (for what they already knew) but would not tell us direct would be her last christmas. I can remember her saying that would not happen. but it did, and she spent her last chrismas with me and my family, of couse so days she was well and orther times she would be just sleeping all the time, it was at this time that she started seeing double and complaining of eye pain.(it was later we found that it had spread to the brain) we made christmas has enjoyable for her has we could, she kept telling me that she would not be around to see her unborn grandchild born, and has you do we told her she would beat this and would be around. has she wanted to be there when she was born like she was with the orthers.on the 9th of jan 2003 they took mom back to worcester . on the 18th of jan 2003 paige was born and aweek later I went back to worcester with paige to show mom who at this stage had lost sight in her eye was not eating and having pains in her arms. she manged to hold paige for a few minutes and stated to cry saying that she would not get to see her grow up .
its now been over five years since she passed over, but only seems like yesterday, and I miss her very much.
